Flood Insurance Myths_3-2019

The September 16, 2019, Board of Supervisors Meeting included representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to discuss Food Processing Residuals (FPRs). Following the meeting, the Board sent a letter with a summary of the discussion to the DEP leadership as well as to our local elected representatives.

Thus far, those representatives have acknowledged receipt of the Board’s concerns and most have committed to their own follow-up regarding this issue. We will continue to provide updates regarding this topic as they are available.

Any resident with questions or concerns regarding the use of Food Processing Residuals (FPRs) by local farmers, can call the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for answers and information. Their number is provided below. DEP - (717) 705-4709

Notice: Cumberland County residents can now text to 911 from a mobile phone when they are in an emergency situation and aren’t able to make a call. The text to 911 service is available through the four major U.S. phone carriers AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.

MS4 Storm Water Pollution Reminder 9.18.2017

SEPTIC SYSTEM/PUMPING INSPECTION REMINDER

The Dickinson Township staff will forward reminders at the end of September to residents requiring septic pumping. To avoid a rush on the contractors in the area, the community is reminded of the requirement for every owner of an individual sewage system to have septage or other solids removed from the treatment tank at least once every three years. Proof of pumping and/or inspection shall be provided by the owner of the individual system within 30 days of the date of service to the Township. For more information, forms, and a list of septic haulers, please see the Sewage Enforcement section of the website.

CD copies of the Comprehensive Plan are available at the Township building.
